Abdallah Candies
Product Line

Each day, Abdallah Candies produces over 20,000 pounds of candies.

During September and October, nearly one million caramel apples are produced and sold locally and online. To replace the labor-intensive hand-dipping process, the company developed a machine that coats 4,000 apples per hour with caramel.

Abdallah Candies sells to roughly 7,000 customers, the majority of whom are wholesalers. Approximately one-third of the company’s candy is sold under private labels. Christmas accounts for approximately 35 percent of annual sales.

American Chicle Company
Product Line

Thomas Adams (May 4, 1818 – February 7, 1905) was an American scientist and inventor of the 19th century who is regarded as the industry’s founder. Adams conceived of the concept while serving as secretary to former Mexican leader Antonio López de Santa Anna, who chewed chicle, a natural gum. Adams initially attempted to transform the gum into a rubber suitable for tire production. When that failed, he transformed the chicle into New York Chewing Gum chewing gum.

Adams created the first flavored chewing gum, black licorice, in 1870 and named it Black Jack. Adams patented the first gum-making machine in 1871. His gum was the first to be sold from vending machines in 1888.

Amy’s Candy Bar

In addition, Hansen-made caramels and nougat are available at Amy’s Candy Bar. The recipe for the homemade caramels and its other varieties was influenced by the French Pastry School and includes European butter, sea salt, glucose, organic cream, and vanilla bean. The caramels are regarded as the establishment’s crowning achievement.
